"I've seen the bigger picture and I can't
do everything and still have everything, so, I have to umm.....let some
pieces go.. this piece..... "
It's ironic that the first time I ever watch Grey's Anatomy, this
quote from one of character seems to be able to capture in words so
clearly and concisely what's been plaguing my mind the last little
while. Which pieces I let go will slowly become apparent... and many
big decisions and challenges lie ahead, none of which I really wish I
had to make...
As for INFJ - it's based on the
Myers-Briggs personality test. Apparently only 1% of the people in the population
have an INFJ personality... The test isn't perfect, but I think it does a
pretty good job of capturing who I am. For those that know me, I'm not sure what you guys think...
Wow.. Internet is SO slow on dial-up. Seriously, we're staying in what we call the Westgate Ghettos.. not quite as nice as the pictures and no internet on site! Even shady motels, McDonalds and other fast food restaurants like Krystal have wireless internet.
Part 1 - Random Thoughts.. Anyways onto some random thoughts, I'll do my 2006 recap blog later on..
1) Finish Well - back to the grocery cart lady (see previous post). If you've spent 10-15 minutes grabbing everything you need, why would you abandon the cart? Why not finish and bring everything home.. it doesn't matter if you hit a shelf, dropped some eggs, almost hit a crippled man.... you should still check out your groceries.
2) Volleyball Withdrawal - last night I dreamed I was playing and made some spectacular digs. I woke up happy, then realized I couldn't have possibly played, as my ankle isn't fully healed! I think I need to play soon.. or keep dreaming everynight and wake up disappointed.
3) Ghetto US Restaurants - Golden Corral, some serious ghettoness.. who heard of a buffet/sit-down place where you had to pre-pay to enter? must be a lot of scammers who sneak out? Anyways this is the sign they had in front.. (pic below). I was seriously perplexed. How is it convenient for us? It's like charging admission to a restaurant. Anyways there was this area by the buffet that smelled like washroom, trust me.. I checked with my sister and bro-in-law.. they both agreed.
4) Boxing Day: Where are the asians? - Haven't been boxing day shopping in years since I'm normally not in the country... anyways I lined up in Richmond Hill on boxing day. The proportion of asian people was a lot lower than expected, guess we're not tough enough to line-up really early .. the lineup turned out to be prob 200 ppl before it opened at 6am?
Part 2 - Random Discoveries 1) iPod Vending machines - saw this at the outlet mall.. crazy.. make sure to watch the youtube clip with some overly excited guys. They had another machine next to it selling cosmetics.. I think? took a pic with my camera phone. (links: video, article)
2) Lost Clothes - you know how you sometimes can't find that shirt or pants? Here's one place to look.. my sis and I were hanging out, then my bro-in-law comes in with a pair of sweatpants.. a) he says they don't fit him and that they probably shrunk in the wash. b) my sis looks at them, then says it's hers! haha.. ok.. that explains it. c) I take a closer look at them, and realized the sweatpants are mine! **proof ** - they're size large, without debate, my sis agreed that she doesn't wear this size. anyone who debates this.. umm.. be prepared to face the wrath of my sis.. - I remember the placement of the nike swoosh on the bottom pant leg near the hemming. d) I decided not to take them back, they've disappeared for years.. I've already gotten replacements.. 3) Transformers The Movie - new trailer is out.. looks pretty good! (link). While I'm at it.. here's a random "Transformer" related commercial. 4) Timothy's Gingerbread Vanilla Hot Chocolate - wow.. this stuff is addictive. Mind you it's super sweet... definetly a great discovery...
I never really thought grocery shopping could be dangerous.. that was until last weekend. I went with bubboteaboy to the Loblaws at Bayview Village to help him pickup a few items for his christmas baking (I still wasn't very mobile with the whole ankle business). For some reason when bubboteaboy and I hang out, we come into some dangerous situations.. not quite as bad as the car one at Demetre's but still scary..
So onto the story....Part 1.. . bubboteaboy and I were in the aisle debating on what package of peanuts matched the "unsalted roasted peanuts" in the ingredients list. When all of a sudden we heard a crash followed by a whole bunch of noise of things falling (rather unexpected in a supermarket). We both turn around and see this (it's the aftermath, didn't get a photo of the actual person):
ok, so you're probably thinking it doesn't look like that big of a mess. However, this woman literally ran into the shelf head-on, completely emptying the bottom half of the shelf. I didn't give much thought to this incident because really, accidents happen, let's look beyond that.
THEN Part 2.... we turn around back to take care of our own business, the lady recovers from the incident and starts headed down the aisle towards us. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a shopping cart whizzing inches from my right leg, so I jump away from it. I think I said to her, "be careful! you almost hit my sprained ankle!". I was expecting a "sorry" or something along those lines, but instead, I got one of the coldest stares I've ever seen, followed by a, "you shouldn't be standing where you were in the aisle" and she continues walking down the aisle. I was in utter shock.. I think I replied back a few seconds later, "You'd better watch where you're going, you don't want to hit anymore things today".. geeze.. what a smart alleck response.. I'm still wondering whether I muttered something about "drinking and shopping".. anyways not my proudest moment, but I'm still senstive of anyone hurting my already busted up ankle... so the story should end here, but there's more....
Part 3.. The End ... bubboteaboy and I picked the peanuts we needed.. then proceeded down the aisle saw a shopping cart left there and it seemed someone had accidentally dropped their eggs. We just assumed that they went to get someone to go clean it up.... but we assumed wrong. Upon closer look at the cart, we realized there were about 10 packages of scotch tape in them (see top left of bottom shelf of cart in photo). This was the same shopping cart of the lady who hit the shelf and almost hit me! (see previous photo.. half the shelf was scotch tape). So she abandoned it after another incident. My conclusion is.. she hit something else, the eggs dropped and she abandoned her cart there.... and I reflect back on what I said to her, "you don't want to hit anymore things today".
ironic.
ok, so it's an interesting story.. though seriously, she must've had a really bad day or had a lot on her mind. Christmas can be a pretty stressful time of the year, but one thing I don't understand is why she left her shopping cart.. especially if she needed to buy all those things. I guess I'll never know.
Anyways moral of the story - shopping at christmas can be dangerous!
ok..onto some random links.. 1. Prototype Toyota Electric Car - much better looking than the Prius.. ok, prob because it's a couple. more pics here as well. 2. New Years Countdown - this webpage is amazing.. such brilliant design.. watch the countdown..... 3. Chinese Tim Hortons Commercial - never thought I'd see the day.. well only parts of it are in chinese. Seriously though.. chinese parents never like us playing more physical sports like hockey.. 4. 2006 Best Inventions - from Time.com.... 5. New Activity for your company's next team meeting? - okay.. our company actually hired these guys for our last team meeting.. it was pretty interesting having everyone act this stuff out.. it was pretty hilarious.. 6. Burger King Video Games? - Don't believe it? read here... Burger King is selling video games along with burgers... but they look pretty entertaining, like some of the new Nintendo Wii games. 7. IceHotel! - located in Sweden.. wow.. this place looks pretty good.. and some fabulous pics. Here's the description, "The main restaurant of the famed Ice Hotel chain is, oddly enough, not made of ice. But they do serve meals on plates made from the ice of the Torne River, which borders Sweden and Finland. Elk and reindeer appear frequently on the restaurant’s winter menu. "
Ok, so this is my first video ever... using my digital camera and Windows Movie Maker I managed to put this together.. not too bad for a first timer. Anyways enjoy and feel free to share!
and some other facts: - The Gingerbread Vanilla Hot Chocolate at Timothy's is really good.. but very sweet.. too much sugar.. I think I could get seriously addicted. - Actually sold something on Craigslist.org- it was really easy! - If you like the beds in some of the hotels you stay in, you can now buy them! 1) http://www.hyattathome.com/ 2) http://www.westin-hotelsathome.com/
** Exhibit A ** Wow, it's been ages since I posted.. still adding pictures. Yes, the picture above (exhibit A) is my active ankle brace, and yes it's broken. A lot of you have already seen me hobbling around on crutches.. I didn't think I'd ever sprain my ankle again since I wear my Active Ankle braces ALL the time when I play. Their slogan is "Play without Fear" .. which I bought into, until now. Anyways basically freak accident, landed on someone's foot, during the fall, the ankle brace broke, I sprained my ankle. Seriously though, I think if this didn't break, my ankle probably would've. Another view of the brace - see Exhibit B... The sprain was a lot more seroius than I thought, but it's gotten a lot better the last day or so. Thankfully I had a good physiotherapist, but she asked me to come 5 times over the last week.. .. it was *that* bad...
** Exhibit B **
Anyways to top off the sprained ankle, went in for dental surgery today (on my crutches), so in addition to icing my ankle, I'm now icing my face. I knew to keep 4 icepacks in my fridge for good reason! .. anyways so I won't be eating well lately, dinner tonight is a bottle of Aloe Vera drink and a bottle of Boost! All I can say is December has been a lot of ups and downs... some really good times (like this weekend)... but some really hard times (also this weekend)..
Ok, I'll finish off this short post with some random links as usual..
Justis Kao - Christmas Concert - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7sZFB3xRBQ - was supposed to go to LA for this, but couldn't miss work.. I sprained my ankle and ended up missing work anyways.. funny how these things happen..
Left Behind - The Video Game - Link 1 (The Star), Link 2 - this Christian Game is apparently causing quite a Controversy- some people say the game is too violent and promotes religious intolerance. The game pits faithful Christians against Muslims, backsliders and other allies of the Antichrist...
